About Bead-Jewelled

Bead-Jewelled is the result of a hobby gone wild!

I started making jewellery for fun, having taken classes in jewellery making and beading.  From day one I was hooked; I spent every chance I got in my spare bedroom designing and making jewellery. Initially these were given as gifts to family and friends and then people began asking to see what I had made and so I started to sell my designs at parties for friends and local village markets, which in turn led to this website.

My main focus has always been to work with semi-precious beads – for their exquisite beauty and alleged healing properties I also love to work with good quality glass beads and amazing Swarovski crystals.  The choice of colours and textures available is endless and design opportunities limitless. I add sterling and Bali silver beads to give a unique feel to my work. I love the freedom of creating “one off” designs with these beautiful beads.

I work with a variety of mediums from cord and leather to sterling silver, silver plate and gold vermeil.  I aim to make beautiful and very wearable jewellery at affordable prices.  I have just started to work  precious metal clay within my designs and hope to develop this further.  Precious metal clay is purer than sterling silver and the design potential is endless.

I hope you like the variety of designs on my web site.  I will be making and introducing new pieces all the time so please keep checking the site for the latest updates.

If you have any special requirements I would be happy to discuss them with you.  Please e-mail me at sales@bead-jewelled.co.uk

You can see a list of the gemstones that I use (and their properties) here. Other products used in my jewellery making include:-

Sterling silver – 92.5% sterling silver designs would have all elements made of sterling silver including headpins, clasps, ear wires and jump rings. Sterling silver can tarnish in time but can be easily brought back to its former glory using  a jewellery polishing cloth or costume jewellery cleaner which is readily available.

Silver plated – chains, clasps and headpins are products that are plated with an industry standard of .15 to .25 mils thickness of silver, which must be at least 92.5% silver, to the surface of the base metal.

Gold (vermeil) – is gold plated sterling silver. The gold plating may wear off in time depending on wear and care.

** all ear wires and studs are sterling silver **
